Are you enjoying the Olympics as much as I am? Summer is my favorite! And while my little one is too young to get excited about the Olympics, she’s not too young to support Team USA! 
These headbands are super quick and easy to make. Not to mention the fact that you can use them again when the 4th of July rolls around. They are interchangeable so you can just pop one off and stick another one on. Your kiddo can’t outgrow it because you can just make a bigger band once it starts getting a little too tight. ;)
If I had invested more time in this project, I would have sewn everything to make it more durable. But since this is something she won’t wear often, hot glue did the trick!
I made 3 different headbands and two hair clips {which can also be used on the headband}. And I still had a bunch of stars left over for other projects!
So let’s get to it!
You will need:
- Felt stars {I got lucky and found a bag of them before I started… no cutting for me!}
- Velcro
- Elastic
- Felt
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
1. Lay out your stars and arrange them so that when they are glued together, there will be enough room for your headband to run down the center. I didn’t use the white ones because they aren’t actually white.
2. Flip them over and cut strips of felt to fit down the center. Cut small squares for the single stars.
3. Glue the strips down the center making sure they are tight so there are no spaces between the stars. I held them together and put a little glue down the center in sections, and pressed the felt down as I went.
**Please be careful while doing this! I don’t want any of you to burn yourself! As much as I hate to admit it, I’m totally speaking from experience. Yep, I burned my thumb. Not only did I give myself a really pretty blister, but I made sure to burn my other fingers by flipping out and trying to pull the glue off! Panic mode doesn’t work in my favor. Just ask my fingers. Worst. pain. ever. This is where the project ended and the cursing crying started. My glue gun and I had words, but I forgave it the next day and all was well again. Someone should really invent glue gun gloves. Please.
4. Glue Velcro dots to each end of your felt on all of your strips. Glue a dot to the center of the felt on your single stars as well. Again, be careful. Pretty please.
5. Cut a piece of elastic to fit around your child’s head. I just wrapped a piece around her noggin and cut where the end met the elastic {after removing it from around her head}. That method somehow worked like a charm.
6. Lay a strip of felt {about an inch thick?} under your elastic. Fold the bottom up to the edge of the elastic.
7. Put a little hot glue along the felt.
8. Fold the top over the bottom tightly and slid elastic out.
9. Flip it over.
10. Cut off the excess felt.
11. Then cut the tube in half. Hamburger style. 
12. Glue Velcro dots {ones that will stick to the dots you used earlier} onto the seams of each tube.
13. Slide your elastic back through the tubes. Overlap the elastic ends and glue in place. Slide one tube over that seam to cover it up. Then stick one end of your stars to that tube. Slide the other tube down the elastic to meet the other end of your stars.
If you are making clips too, glue a Velcro dot to the clip and stick a star on it. I didn’t have any clips but I plan to get some soon! For now, we’ll just stick them on the headband.
And you’re done! All that’s left to do now is put it on that cute little head. I just might wear one of the clips, it would probably look stunning on my big ol’ head. But Little Miss would enjoy matching mama no matter how super cool I look! :)

She looks a little like the Statue of Liberty from certain angles. A much cuter version, of course! :wink:

So this is the project that you burned yourself on...I completely know that panic mode all too well. I did the very same thing to my thumb and finger last summer! Biggest blister and pain I have ever felt...well, other than child birth:-) At least your project was absolutely adorable even after the pain filled night!!!
