**Update** It has come to my attention that there is already a pattern available for these. I am all about promoting Etsy shops {and don't want to step on any toes}, so I've removed the tutorial, but you can still make one by purchasing these Sock Hopper instructions. AND! You can now receive 15% off of anything in the MonsterTakeouts shop! Just enter coupon code: HUBBYMADEME15
We went with a girly monster theme for my daughter’s first birthday earlier this year, and ended up making a bunch of these little guys for party favors. They turned out so cute that I ended up wanting to keep them all to myself! They are very inexpensive, fast, and easy to make. So when I saw these cute Halloween socks in the Dollar Spot at Target, I knew my daughter was getting a set of Halloween sock monsters. The only problem is, one sock already vanished. Luckily she doesn’t know that I had planned to give her a smaller one too. Phew.
You can make a bunch of these pretty quickly, especially if you make your husband stuff them. It only takes a bit longer if you decide you don’t like his stuffing job and have to redo them. And, it’s a great way to use up some of those socks that are missing their other half. Just make sure to use clean socks, no one wants to play with a stinky monster! ::wink::
Can you believe “M” would not put this thing down? Well except to lay on it like it’s a neck pillow. I figured she would take one look at it and hand it to the dog, thinking it was a chew toy {smaller socks look less like chew toys}. Instead, she carried it around like a football all day while periodically stopping to give it cuddles and kisses. It’s also fun to play catch with sometimes.
Oh, and it fits perfectly in her cup holder. Now it can sit and watch her eat or ride with her in the car. And if you’re not yet convinced you need to make one… It’s also fun to throw at your husband when he’s not looking.
Too cute, right? Just wait until you make one with a smaller sock. It's even cuter!
Make one! Your kids {or dog} will thank you. And show me pictures! I would LOVE to see your creations!

These are really cute! I would have never thought to use a sock to make them! Absolutely adorable and not lumpy at all! ;) P.S. You're pictures are amazing. Jealous.
Haha! I worked hard on the stuffing job! :) Thank for the sweet comment on my pictures, I was trying my best to make it not so noticeable that I took some at night! So that makes me happy to hear :)

OH, he is a super cutie! I love how this turned out. The orange and black is a great color combo too.
Thanks, Shannah! He is pretty cute, isn't he?! The black and orange is perfect for Halloween, but it's not overly Halloween-y so she can play with it all year round! :)
He is so cute! Love that he fits in the cupholder! =) Thanks for linking up to the Keep Calm and Link Up! Hope to see you back next week!

These are so adorable. Love the ears and the sweet expression on it's face.
Thank-you for sharing such a cute project with us.
(P.S. Just between us, does step 6's picture remind you of the backend view of a cat? Too much sharing? Sorry!)
Sorry, I meant to mention, You could use the left-over top of the sock to make...
a) a knit hat for another sock monster (so they don't match too much)
b) make a a little fabric liner with velcro closure, tuck into the sewn-up bottom of sock top. whip stitch lining in. now you have a little coin purse, jewelry pouch, ect...
Very cute ideas! I thought about making a little flower bow, but decided he was a boy and didn't need one ;)
Thanks for the sweet comment, Louise! Well, except for the part about my picture looking like the back end of a cat ;) HAHA! Not cool!
SERIOUSLY the cutest little sock monster ever!! Love it. Thanks so much for linking it up to LLR :) You'll be featured this week!
